Peace

Ths week has been crazy and last week was no better.I`d be looking forward to the weekend more, but I have to get through work, packing and working concessions for a basketball game tomorrow night before we leave on Friday.

Tater was home sick today, so I stayed with her tonight and after bedtime, I filled the tub with epsom salts and lavendar and tucked myself away for an hour with my current book. It is "The Moment of Everything" by Shelly King. I had trouble getting into it, but have really enjoyed it once I did.

To finish off my peaceful night, I`m tucked in bed with the purring lap warmers.

Mickey is feeling guilty for pulling Bitsey off the window perch today, so they are sharing my lap better than usual.

Valentines Day

And no, I did not get flowers, candy or any sweet stuffed animals for Valentines Day. I did get taken out for dinner, but that's another story.

I went out with a couple of friends on Friday night. I even got the text from the Boss, "Do I need to come and give you a ride home?" Met up with a friend from work and a former classmate from high school that I haven't seen since graduation day (and that was a few years ago). Really enjoyed the evening, had a couple of great drinks at our tasting house (?) and then dinner and diet coke afterwards.

Valentines Day itself was an up at 6 am and on the road by 8 kind of day, but it was a fun one. Dizzy's meet was in the mall in Bozeman. Totally unique venue and a lot of fun. She had the meet of the year, throwing out 4 solid routines and nailing a great bar routine. Best of the year. Best all around score of the year.
Got through the meet with only a few tears of joy. (she watches to see if I wipe away tears when she finishes) Left Dizzy with a teammate to watch the next level and come home later, took Tater and the Boss out to lunch before racing home for the next event of the night.

We, being the Boss and I, went out on a date...this rarely happens! It was the annual work Christmas party that they moved to after Christmas when things weren't quite as crazy and this year fell on Valentines Day. It was fun, sat with a couple of good friends, ate some amazing prime rib and won a gift card. Not a bad night. It was  just nice to have a night where the kids were fine, we had no responsibilities and good company.

Sunday was cleaning and laundry and I spent a couple hours of mindless comedy watching the TMNT movie.

Monday was spent running errands, camper shopping/looking and a touch more laundry. The Boss wants a new camper and I'm starting to be convinced. We looked at a few that were almost more expensive than our house and several that had nicer kitchens...

Here's to a great short week. I was off yesterday and also took Friday off to travel to visit friends and, oh yeah, attend another gymnastics meet. Dizzy is over the moon excited about this one, as all competitors get new matching leotards. Should be interesting!

Porta Potties?

I get an automated voice message yesterday. It was telling me that the power was out at Tater's school and that they had porta potties ordered and being delivered soon.
That was it. Nothing about how they are keeping the students warm (it was 35 degrees outside) or what they were doing for lights. Nope, even the news articles online with our one TV station that is able to keep up with the news only had that little bit about the porta potties.

I know some little girls who would not use a porta potty to save their life.

Now, it didn't end up to be more than an hour or two of power out (I did not get a call that things were back to normal, nor did the update after the power company got into the transformer ever arrive). Tater said they spent time in the gym and that it got very cold in the building.

The other problem I saw here was that my email was a good half hour after the phone call and the phone call came an hour after the power went out. Not so good on the timing thing. Big problem when one's last name is towards the end of the alphabet.

The rest of the day wasn't bad. Picked Dizzy up from school, got a call that Tater was on a different bus (many drivers and the poor administrative assistant who was making the calls were sick) and then made it home to make dinner and get Dizzy to practice. Then I had to run dinner to Bean who was at his first day of work and then Tater and I went to Sophomore Parent night at the high school. The Boss met us there and we sat through some well put together presentations about preparing our Sophomores for their last two years of high school.

A minor mishap and mis-turn after The Boss and Tater went to get Dizzy had me missing the last session. I went to get ice cream and managed to get chocolate all over my sweatshirt instead.

This morning had me in the recliner reading some other blogs and Mickey on his perch. All of a sudden there is a terrible retching sound from the kitchen. Mickey's eyes get as big as dinner plates and he races to the kitchen where Bitsey is attempting to throw up her toenails. Not sure what she ate or if it was a hair ball but the poor thing was miserable. I've also never seen Mickey so worried. He kept pacing around her and nosing her gently and glaring at me like it was my fault she was sick.

The rest of today was good. Bean and I were able to talk about classes and getting his requirements in for graduation.

Dizzy was honored twice at her school assembly today. Once for being a student caught doing something right and the second time for being a good role model for other students. The Boss and I had been invited in secret and I had to chuckle as I saw her tell a friend that "My mom is at work". Ha, I was in the second row (just a row ahead of the governor) and got a picture to prove it.

Tater had a good day, as good as they come anymore. She's having a tough year and we're working on making it better. We were free enough tonight that she got to spend a couple of hours with her little friend next door, a much needed time of fun.

I enjoyed attending a writers group tonight and then came home to find my fitbit had finally arrived. Now it's time for me to start walking.

But seeing as it's dark out and not good to exercise before bed, I think I'll start on the new JD Robb book that came out today...

Party, anyone?

Celebrated my mom's birthday with her yesterday. Unfortunately, she was home alone while we were at church, a meeting, a Sunday trip to Costco and then a second time while we went to our new Pastor's installation at church.

We did manage to get her to dinner and they gave her a complimentary dessert. I felt bad, as this was supposed to be a quiet, at home weekend.  It was a weekend we were home and slept in our own beds and as weekends go lately, it was quiet. No gymnastic  meets at least.  I did have to go shopping (it was 2 ugly trips!) and worked a college basketball game. The boss had a meeting with our new Pastor and a date with his youngest (Father-daughter dance for Girl Scouts) and had to go into work both days.

We did manage to get 2 movies watched, Maze Runner and the newest Captain America. We also managed to get some laundry done, dishes done, the dishwasher cleaned and rooms mostly mucked out (although Bean's still needs work).

Last week was brutal again, although Dizzy got her high bar kip for the first time and is looking forward to competing this weekend. A new format for this meet, they will be competing in the shopping mall. If you're in Bozeman Friday, Saturday or Sunday, swing by the mall and see these amazing athletes. No admission fees, so it's a great chance to see what we're growing up here in Montana.

Meetings galore this week, and I still have nothing fit for human consumption for my writers group, but am working on the writing prompt we received two weeks ago. I'll share later.

Last week marked 20 years since the Boss proposed. It was a busy day where we barely saw each other and he was home sick from work. Not much romance there! We do have a date set for Valentines Day, if we can get home from the meet in time.

Today is a big day in Bean's life. He starts his first official job. Yes, my boy will be singing the ABC song for hours on end while shelving books at the library. He's pretty excited about it.

Have Valentines gifts for the kids already and ordered my fitbit over the weekend. Time to up those steps each day, in conjunction with doing the stupid plank challenge that has me frustrated. I'm hoping to be ready in the next year or so to do a 5K without pain. Last time I tried this I crippled myself, so it will be slow and steady working towards it. I never thought I could do the plank challenge, but I can hold it for over a minute now.

Anyhow, guess I'd better change laundry and snuggle with my cat. He's all but blocking the keyboard so I pay him some attention. We started with him happy to sleep in the window, watching for the bad doggies that invaded his home earlier today. Now, not so much!

House cleaning

Those who know me well know I hate cleaning the house. It seems a sad kitty frantically trying to reach something under the stove does prompt me to remove the drawer and check.

It seems a favorite toy (amongst others, but that is Mickey's story to share on his blog <http://monsterunderthecovers.blogspot.com/>).
We did rescue his toy, and yes he helped, and he hasn't put it down since.
How long will it stay out of the toy stealing stove? I'm guessing not long. (and by the mopey walk-by I just saw, I think it's already gone)

Purple

I started today having one of those no tp on the roll and the extra tp stash is empty kind of day. Deciding I should not start my week that way, I announced that I felt purple today.

This was in honor of my new purple socks. Somebody forgot to pack socks (not me this time) for our meet this weekend and we had to buy some new ones. Being in the same size of socks as my daughter, I claimed some of the new socks on the pack we got.

It was a wonderful day, since purple means it will be a wonderful day, as a former coworker told me.

The kids loved our full weekend away as they were able to go swimming.

Dizzy successfully competed this weekend, getting her low bar kip on the uneven bars and reaching her state qualifying score. I cried, which was her goal. She then got to use the Miranda Says voice for the rest of the day. Totally annoying. Check it out on YouTube if you don't believe me.

We also got to spend time with grandma, grandpa, auntie, uncle, cousin and more extended family. Was great to see everyone, but it wasn't enough time! I also went shopping and let the girls ride the  indoor Ferris wheel.

I did manage to make a full meal tonight before we scatter to scouts and practice.
