Favorites

I have been neglecting this blog terribly.

I blame work and my new smart phone.

That being said, life is as crazy as ever and I promise to try and do better.

We're just home from a super-fast trip to Gramma and Papa's and my favorite nephew's 1st birthday. Now, before anyone freaks out, he's my only nephew, so I'm not being mean to anyone.

Last weekend was a race to my mom's overnight to do some quick shopping, experience some of the best customer service I have seen in quite some time and watch a gymnastics meet. It was a tough one, as Dizzy went for it all on bars and lost momentum and then had a major crash on beam in warm ups. She left crushed and hurting and I have never been more proud of her for putting in her all and not giving up.

Softball begins officially tomorrow. There go my later evenings, but volleyball is in it's last week and we have three weeks before middle school track begins. The state championship for gymnastics is this Saturday, coinciding with the first track meet for Bean--90 minutes from Helena, each of them the opposite way! Sunday is Tater's 1st Communion and I'll be a wiped out cookie by the end of the weekend.

That's all for this post, more on customer service later.

Co-pilots

So I has to make the loop tonight from volleyball to gymnastics. Tater is bored with it, so went over to a friends to play.

I'm bored with it too, so decided I needed a co-pilot to keep me company.

Mickey hates the car with every fiber of his being, so he was out.

Hmmm, Bitsey has never been too unhappy with the car...

So, harness on so I can control her when the doors are open and away we went. She's so little, she fits on my lap and stayed there in a ball the entire time!

She also met a lot of Dizzy's gymnastics family before heading home to a well deserved nap.

Goals

I'm on day 8 in a row of doing some kind of workout. Last nights wasn't as extensive as I wanted, but I did get something in. 50,667 steps last week, but one of those days was a fitbit recharge day, so I know I had more steps than that. Today's workout included an extra 5 minutes on the elliptical, day 2 of a 28 day squat challenge and a return to planks. Boy do I dislike squats and planks!

Busy week here at my happy little home last week.
  • 3 separate sessions working concessions.
  • 5 tutoring sessions
  • Girl Scouts
  • Running, with the help of some great people, a 74 car Powderpuff Derby (yes, like the Pinewood Derby, but for Girl Scouts)--and only upsetting 2 parents in the process. Yikes, folks, this is for the kids.
  • Training at work, both at my regular position, but also at the other desk where I am a little less comfortable.
  • Having special guests at storytime. This should be easy as pie, right? Not when the first guest gives me a heart attack and the director is right there with me for the entire thing!
  • Took my vitamins every day. Did not drink nearly enough water, but ate veggies!
  • Did not get in any writing, but did a quick read of a chapter rewrite for an author friend.
  • Had some fun with the kitties and the kiddies.
Dizzy had her first volleyball game this week. She had a blast! She also is getting excited for a gymnastics meet this next weekend, as she feels her routines are getting stronger.

Bean had a tough week, struggling with homework and a nasty cold. He did, however, feel well enough to go skiing this weekend and is looking forward to track season and his birthday in just a couple of weeks. Hoping to take the Boss car shopping this week as well.

Tater is still bubbling over her third place win at the Derby. Then to top things off, she got to assist at the concessions and then have a friend over for a sleepover. Lots of giggling and smiles.

It was warm enough today to put sheets and a few shirts out on the clothes line. I was busy all day working on laundry and have 3 loads to fold tomorrow since I gave up today.

This week isn't looking as busy. Hoping to knock out a few more books in the process. I got through 2 so far! Both the new Robyn Carr and the new Susan Mallery books are amazing!

1,003 days

A friend has been running for 1003 days in a row as of today. His 1001st day was a half marathon in the snow over the weekend.

I decided if he can, while raising a family, supporting his wife going back to school  and working full time, find time every day to train to run half and whole marathons, train that many days in a row, I can find 10-15 minutes a day  to work out.

This provided some entertainment tonight, as I was heading down to get my time in on the elliptical machine and the boss was a step ahead of me to do the same thing, although he does use wants more time. I was saved from having to be second by the above-mentioned friend, who called to ask him a question.

I raced downstairs and put on The Prairie Home Companion podcast and jumped on the elliptical. This was great, except it is cold outside tonight and the furnace kicked on while I was on the machine. The problem is that the machine fits in our basement directly underneath the furnace vent. Got a little warm...Must remember to turn fan off next time!

I started this yesterday when I realized our first softball practice for the year, and yours truly is an assistant coach, is about a month away. I need to be ready to keep up with the team, therefore am promising myself 30 days of exercise and eating right.

Day 2. That's a streak for me.

Home

It's been a crazy week here in my happy little home.

Bean had a not-so-fun experience and had to learn a lot this week. He's dealing with it better than I thought he would.

Dizzy got very lucky with what could have been a not-so-fun experience this week. She got out of the truck Tuesday morning to walk the two blocks to the middle school and her iPod fell out of her pocket. She didn't realize it until she got to school and when I took her to practice (after volleyball practice) she asked me to have Bean check the truck for her. He did, I did and neither of us found it. I did some cleaning in her room, nothing. So I used the nifty "find my iPod" app and it showed up off-line. I was hoping it was in her backpack, but upon picking her up discovered it wasn't.

Bean was at the high school playing with the pep band and we texted him and asked him to check where he had parked this am.

He called a bit later, shocked that he had found it frozen to the sidewalk. All day on the sidewalk, thank goodness she had the white case.

It's fine, she is so lucky!

Tater is at softball right now, learning to be a pitcher. She also got to spend a night out of town with her friend. Sounds like they had a great time. She and dad are creating her Powderpuff Derby car tonight. Pictures will follow.

I've been busy, last weekend with a trip out of state was exhausting. The Boss is running like crazy in circles. Sunshine and time with good friends is making life enjoyable. I think spring is starting to think about coming around, but not very quickly. Hope is eternal!

Here's hoping spring flowers come soon. I'm looking forward to another weekend at home and a couple of day trips for the last two gymnastics meets of the year. Dizzy is starting to feel some real confidence with her routines, so we're excited about her last meets.

Softball is starting soon, here's to a decent spring! Both girls are playing at the same time this year along with Bean in track. I'll be living in my car for the next 3 months!

First volleyball game on Tuesday, Dizzy is branching out and loving it!
